Ciudad Saludable (Healthy City) is a non-profit organization that was born in 2002 with the goal of providing a way of building healthy and inclusive cities where everyone can live in harmony, justice and equal opportunities. That's why we built a new model of Environmental Management of Solid Waste that is interdisciplinary, participatory, progressive and innovative while including recylers in a economic, environmental and social way.
Ciudad Saludable's main mission is to contribute to sustainable environmental management of cities through the implementation of integrated systems for solid waste management with economic and social inclusion of recyclers, enhancing the value chain of recycling.
Their scope of work is nationwide and has developed projects and consultancies in more than 14 provinces of the country and worked with local governments, educational institutions and businesses.
Ciudad Saludable has reached certain visibility and recognition in an important sector of public opinion in the country and thanks to the tireless work of its president, Albina Ruiz Rios, who is a social entrepreneur of several institutions such as Ashoka, Skoll and Avina, the work of Ciudad Saludable has achieved to gain international participation, bringing its innovation model to several countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and Asia.
